Our elite athlete program helps UniSA students to successfully complete their studies while training and competing at an elite level.
UniSA Sport is seeking to further engage UniSA's Elite Athletes in the range of university competitions, including the annual SA Challenge against Adelaide University and Flinders University, as well as interstate and national representative competitions such as the Southern and Australian University Games.
What is UniSA's Elite Athletes program?
Students competing at major local and international events, including the World University Games, the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games, World Championships and local professional codes are all eligible for assistance from UniSA.
UniSA offers an outstanding package of support services for elite athletes and performing artists through the Elite Athlete and Elite Performing Artist Program. We want to do all we can to help you succeed in both your education and your sporting or performing career, including pre-application support, flexible study options, advice, guidance, flexibility and assistance.
What can UniSA Sport do for elite athletes?
Aside from the range of great intervarsity, representative events, UniSA Sport also understands the financial pressures that often create barriers for elite athletes to compete in their chosen sport at desired levels or the intervarsity events on offer. In 2017, UniSA Sport has three grant programs available for elite athletes providing a range of valuable financial support. These include:
- VC's World University Games Grant: Providing valuable financial support (up to $2000) towards expenses incurred by students representing UniSA at the World University Games, including the 2017 Summer Universiade or World University Championship events.
- Amateur Sports Grant: Providing financial support (up to $1000) to Elite Athlete students in financial hardship who are travelling to compete at the highest levels of amateur sport, typically in a World Championship event where costs are not covered by the national body.
- Australian University Games Elite Athletes Grant: Providing a small grant (up to $300) to students in the Elite Athletes Program to encourage and support them to represent UniSA at the 2017 Australian University Games to be held on the Gold Coast in September.
