UniSA Sport celebrated the UniSA Hockey Club at the recent 2020 Awards Night for their 50-year anniversary as a club. Established in 1970, the club was formerly known as the SAIT Hockey Club (South Australian Institute of Technology), changing its name to the UniSA Hockey Club in 1991. The first women’s and men’s teams were established in 1970 and the club introduced its first junior team in 2017. Significant achievements include:
• 13 grand final appearances and seven premierships
• 36 Life Members
• 2001 awarded the ‘Premier’s Certificate of Appreciation’ for outstanding volunteer service
• 2015 Australian Masters Games Over 35s Hockey Team – gold medal
• 2015 Southern University Games Women’s Hockey Team – gold medal
• 2015 UniSA Sport Club of the Year Award
• 2014 and 2017 Adam Bartrop won the UniSA Sport Club Administrator of the Year Award
• Four UniSA Sport Club Colours Awards – Adam Bartrop, Victoria McCarron, Claire McDonald and Janette Galmesa
