The University of South Australia recently won a UniSport Australia challenge – the 'Keep Moving Month UniMoves' challenge in April.

UniSA was named the most active university in the challenge ahead of universities from all around Australia by accruing over 1.3 million moves in the month – over 550,000 more than the next highest uni.

The challenge was tracked through the UniSA MOVEs app as part of a UniSport Australia’s UniMoves initiative in partnership with Sport Australia.

UniMoves was offered to get universities moving and help staff and students alike find their 30 minutes of activity each day.

The pilot program included 11 universities from across Australia, including the University of South Australia, with the project being led by UniSA Sport.

Since the launch of UniSA MOVEs on October 8 2019, UniSA Sport has had over 1,100 people download the app.

UniSA Sport has delivered 11 challenges, with over 440 participants getting involved in the challenges and over 30 prizes awarded amongst those participants.

While the app is a terrific way for participants to track their moves throughout each day and engage with the challenges, it also features different programs and home workouts each week, which include bodyweight, HIIT and cardio exercises.

Recently, the app has been a good tool for keeping the UniSA community engaged throughout social isolation and working from home and has allowed UniSA Sport to focus on people’s overall wellbeing by including mindful and stretching based workouts.
